Binkies (Gags, goofs, other positive notes from the week/fortnight)
Last week was my last week of class for the semester. Both of my classes at the community college were great! The second class, after I finished my farewell spiel, one student even spoke up to say that he really liked the way I led class and the environment I created. It was deeply touching and I will really miss that class
secondary note: tried a "Show and Tell" project this semester. Initial results are super cool. My students got up to some pretty awesome stuff! Two of them make music and shared it with us!!
Got back to working on my dissertation and remember how much I actually like it. Feels good. Hoping I can keep the momentum going forward this summer.
What I've been Playing
I'm still on my tactics grind. Tactics Advance and FFT. Mint mentioned in chat recently that if you played Final Fantasy Tactics first, it could be harder for you to enjoy Fire Emblem games and I've been lazily rotating that idea. I do generally enjoy Tactics games more like Final Fantasy than I do Fire Emblem types--though I do still generally enjoy them. Idk, just fun to think about
Finishing up Like a Pirate. Fun ass game.
I got spyro working on my Anbernic. nostalgia arc fucking REAL.
What I've been Watching
Almost done with Better Call Saul, what a good ass show. watch it if you like Breaking Bad
Been watching a lot of Kitchen Nightmares--it's a nice show to have in the background while I grind out in Tactics or something. Listening to Gordon Ramsey verbally eviscerate a chef is so much fun. Did you know they just put those episodes up on youtube?
We've watched a fair amount of Chiikawa lately in the discord and damned if it ain't the cutest show i've ever seen.
I watched Four Seasons, the show which is an adaptation of the movie with Alan Alda. Pretty good! I have my reservations about Tina Fey, generally, but pretty solid here. I think the choice to change one of the couples to a gay couple was a strong choice and I really enjoyed both of those characters. Makes me curious about the movie.
What I've Been Reading
started reading Nickeled and Dimed: on (Not) Getting By in America. Incredible book, even less than 100 pages in. What I didn't realize is that shit was written 20 fucking years ago and it's painful how little has changed. To that end, an image I made after reading the fucking Foreword
